Drug Uses
Fosamax is also known as alendronate acid. It is utilized to avert and cure many kinds of bone diseases. Prior to using Alendronate acid one should make sure that he or she doesnt have irregularly small amount of calcium in the blood.
Do not use Alendronate acid if you have gastritis, inflammation of the esophagus. Never use this medicament if you cannot walk or sit for at least half an hour after taking this medicament orally. Do not use Alendronate acid if you are pregnant, feeding with breast, or under the age of eighteen.
The by-effects of using Alendronate acid include ulceration of esophagus, spots on skin, common ache in bones, muscles and joints. The patients taking Alendronate acid could hear sounds that dont exist. If you take medicaments or eat food that contains high quantity of aluminium, magnesium, or calcium the effect of Alendronate acid will be decreased. Avoid using Alendronate acid with medicaments containing vitamin D.
Alendronate acid is available in both tablets and solutions.
Usage
Fosamax should be taken on an empty stomach in the morning. You should avoid eating or drinking anything or lying down for a period of 30 minutes after taking Fosamax. Take it only with water and not with coffee, orange juice, milk, or other dairy products. Do not chew or crush.
Missed Dose
You should try and take your doses on time taking care not to miss any. But if you do miss a dose, then skip it and continue with your regular dose. But do not take a double dose.
Storage
Store it at room temperature.
Overdose
Symptoms of an overdose include hypocalcemia, hypophosphatemia, and severe upper gastrointestinal disturbance (upset stomach, heartburn, esophagitis, gastritis). Seek medical attention immediately if you suspect an overdose.
